This short film illustrates the power of words to radically change your message and your effect upon people

This is true in so many of the advertisements we have seen over the years. In marketing these words are called the ‘copy’. Listen and watch the film and then download for FREE:

In the film you see people walking on the street, passing by a blind man asking for money who used his own made up sign – straight forwardly asking for money. He gets a few coins….When a woman stops by and changes the words on the sign. A miracle follows.

On her return he asks her: “What did you do to my sign?”

She answers: “I wrote the same, with different words!”

JOSEPH SUGARMAN

One of the greatest copywriters in our times is Joseph Sugarcane. Anyone who needs to write copy needs to have his book “The Adweek Copywriting Handbook” as their very own reference text book.

Someone I look up to in the Marketing world, Joe Polish has said this about him:

This man is a marketing genius, I’d say icon would be the proper terminology for Joe [Sugarman] and what he has done. The New York Times called him a mail order maverick. Bottom Line has regarded him as one of the countries greatest copy writers. And Success Magazine called him one of the most successful direct marketing gurus of all time”.

How to Beat Procrastination

P.S. The Power Of Words reminds me of something my grandson said when he was just 2yrs old. He wasn’t well bless him and needed to express his problem.

“My talkings, hurting me” he said.

I immediately knew he had a sore throat. But imagine at that age having to find the right words to let me know what was the matter with him 🙂

We as adults still need to find the right words 🙂
